welcome to the blog.

Let's transform your life and business one blog post at a time.

People sometimes ask me, “How did you get so good at photography overnight?”

That question makes me want to laugh because that’s farrrrrr from what happened. What they didn’t know was that it was all part of my strategy.

I wanted to be a photographer for years and years, but I didn’t want to come out and share my work until I was proud of it. To practice, I spent a year taking pictures almost everyday.

What was I taking pictures of everyday?

RANDOM STUFF! I would shoot my wedding ring, my dinner, my living room, my dog. I took pictures of friends and family. Anytime I had the opportunity, I would have a friend, cousin, or whoever get dressed up in what I wanted them to wear and pose the way I wanted them to. A lot of the time I even provided the clothes for the shoot.

I knew what I wanted my portfolio to look like, so I worked at it for a year until I was finally proud enough to share my photos with others. Yes, to some it may have looked like it happened overnight, but what they didn’t know was that I had been working on it for a long time.

The shoots in your portfolio most likely aren’t the paid shoots with a full team of stylists. They’re the shoots YOU thought of, styled, and created (like the one I took in Sedona, below)!  You have to start somewhere. Remember, the dream portfolio doesn’t happen overnight–you have to take charge and start building your dream shoots. If you’re not booking your dream client, that means you’re not attracting your dream client.

And what’s the #1 way to attract your dream client? Having an amazing portfolio.

Get to it boss lady!
